River Hebert District High students visit Millbrook Cultural Centre
Mr. Skabar's Mi'Kmaq Studies 10 class and Mrs. Harrison's Jr. High Social Studies classes from River Hebert District High traveled to the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre in May to receive an overview of the 10,000 years of Mi'Kmaq history in the Maritimes. Students were greeted by two interpretive guides who sang the national anthem of the Mi'Kmaq people; interacted with the centre's unique exhibits by participating in a scavenger hunt, and completed their visit by creating their own Journey Stones. Each student drew an image of a symbolic animal on a polished stone - called a Journy Stone - representing their personal journey. Journey stones serve as good-luck charms. A big thank you is extended to the staff of the Millbrook Cultural Centre!
