Join us today for the live stream of Stand Up Speak out on the CCRCE website at 10 AM.

What is Stand Up. Speak Out.?

Now in its 6th year, our Stand Up. Speak Out. initiative aims to continue a larger conversation about Social Justice and the Social Justice Framework.

We are bringing the Stand Up. Speak Out. multi-coloured doors of social justice back, but this year its opening the doors on a new subject; WORDS MATTER. CCRCE wants people to think about the hurtful words that are used freely and the potential impact they can have on others. Words are complex and some hold a deeper meaning of hate, hurt and pain. We want to raise awareness that it’s time to think before we speak about our word choices.

As the theme for this year’s Stand Up. Speak Out. initiative, CCRCE is focusing their efforts on raising awareness that words matter through a series of videos, each highlighting the power words have for each of CCRCE’s social justice pillar (race, class, abilities, sexual orientation and gender). Videos can be found by scanning QR codes on posters as well as on CCRCE’s social media leading up to the Stand Up. Speak Out. event.

Stand Up. Speak Out. is a student event that is hosted each year by a different school within CCRCE. This year, Hants East Rural High will be hosting on September 13th, 2018. Now in its’ 6th year, Stand Up. Speak Out. started as a response to bullying and has since evolved to broaden the topic for CCRCE and its communities to understand the connections between healthy relationships, social-emotional learning, positive school climate and social justice.
