Nova Scotia with heart

The anniversary of the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty (or the anniversary of any student/staff tragedy) can bring heightened emotions and feelings for students and families.

Throughout the school year, teachers work with students on building resilience, strengthening coping skills, and focusing on well-being. These approaches help students when they are heightened now and add to their well-being tools for students to use in the future when facing challenges.

We want you to know that school staff, including teachers, school counselors, social workers, psychologists, and mental health clinicians, are available to help. If you feel like you require more information or support, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. They will help you connect with the appropriate support.

We have also attached two PDFs that can help families when talking with children about grief and tragedies.
