MediaSmarts – Parent resources, there are a great deal of resources here that may be helpful for parents , including guides, tip sheets, gaming resources, videos and tutorials.  As a Canadian-based resource it comes highly recommended from Canadian Public Health Association.

Keeping Tech in check – A great resource from BC Children’s hospital that has tip sheets for parents to address healthy screen habits, developing a family tech plan, supporting safe and appropriate use of technology and handling the associated challenges.

Protect Kids online – from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (CCCP), designed to assist parents/guardians in protecting their children on the Internet and reducing their risk of victimization.  Resources are grouped by age and emerging issues and provides support on how to report issues of safety.

Cybertip.ca – Operated by CCCP, a tipline for reporting the online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.  Great info on sextortion, online harms and research on child abuse issues.

Canadian Centre for Child Protection – has a number of programs and initiatives aimed at educators, resources and research as well as survivor and family support.

Digital media: Promoting healthy screen use in school-aged children and adolescents – position statement from the Canadian Pediatric Society

https://www.waituntil8th.org/ - provides information on the benefits of delaying cell phone usage in kids until 8th grade.  Admittedly, this may be controversial info to post but that I’d add it to the mix.

Caring for Kids – Canadian Pediatric Society research and position statements on digital media including screen time impacts on young children and social media – this is  a parent-frieHealtndly site with a number of resources related to children’s health.

Common Sense media -  a well-regarded American site that provides reviews and ratings of games and media for child suitability.
